MEDICAL JEWELLERY: CAD TO CREATION

Dr Leon Williams, Royal College of Arts

If medical products were to possess the qualities of ‘desirability’ that are commonly associated with jewellery, positive user interaction would be enhanced. The wearer would be able to use medical products with pleasure and confidence, without fear or social stigma, and in doing so retain an element of personal control which might otherwise be lost to them.   This short talk will focus on 5 years of research projects and prototypes that led to the development of medical jewellery today. I will also discuss the importance of implementing cutting edge rapid-prototyping technologies and materials that made it possible to build them!

This Lecture is free to attend and open to the general public.
Tea/coffee available from 6pm. Lecture starts at 6.30pm.
